For a healthy and tasty porridge in the morning, however, you do not need a ready-made mixture, because with just a few ingredients you have prepared this yourself and without sugar or unhealthy additives.

Ingredients for the Breakfast Porridge with Millet

  • 60 g oat flakes
  • 40 g millet flakes
  • 500 ml vegetable milk (coconut, rice, oat …)
  • 1 pinch of sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 apples
  • 50 g blueberries
  • Cinnamon

Preparation of the Breakfast Porridge with Millet

Step 1
Wash and core the apples and cut them into small pieces. Heat 1 tablespoon of coconut oil in a small saucepan and sauté the apples in it over low heat.

Step 2
Put 500 ml of vegetable milk, 60 g of oat flakes, 40 g of millet flakes, 1 tbsp of coconut oil in a pot, or a pan.

Step 3
Add a pinch of sea salt – let everything boil for a short time – and keep it simmer for 20 minutes. If you like it more liquid, add a little more plant milk.

Step 4
Simmer on the lowest setting for 20 minutes. If you like it more liquid, add some vegetable milk.

Step 5
Arrange the breakfast porridge on plates and garnish it with sautéed apples and fresh blueberries. Finally, sprinkle some cinnamon over the porridge before serving.

You can also prepare the breakfast porridge with millet flakes only. Just replace the amount of oat flakes with millet flakes. If you like your porridge a little more exotic, you can also refine it with fine spices such as vanilla, cardamom, cloves or a pinch of turmeric.
